That's how he developed a hunting dog with excellent traits and abilities. The Jack Russell is a working dog, bred to bark and drive foxes and other animals out of their dens. That's why its tendency to bark is still linked to its original purpose today. It's also interesting that the Jack Russell didn't kill its prey but tracked it using various tactics, stalking it and helping its owners catch it. Since the 20th century there have been two varieties of this breed, with the Parson Russell being somewhat stockier and taller than the Jack Russell Terrier. Although originally bred for hunting, today many people keep it purely as a household pet. Because of its genes, it still digs holes and runs after everything, and to this day it will growl, dig holes, and squeeze through fences if it senses danger. In short, it's bursting with energy and won't be satisfied with just a short walk around the block. It's a very active breed that loves to jump and run, and above all it loves climbing all kinds of equipment at dog parks. It's not a fan of very young children; on the other hand, these are also very affectionate dogs, full of love, and they get along well with older children who know how to behave around dogs.
